ICCW and IUSSTF Joint Virtual Centre conducted the Indo-US Virtual Workshop on Smart Sensors and Analytics for Clean Water on Feb 26, 2021. Prof. Thomas Thundat – University at Buffalo spoke on sensors and sensor networks for water quality monitoring, while Prof. Soumyo Mukherjee, IIT, Bombay talked about the ‘Nanostructure decorated optical fiber sensors for water quality monitoring. Prof. Prof. Pabitra Nath Tezpur University spoke on ‘Smartphone – A smart sensing platform for water quality monitoring in resource-poor settings’ and Dr. Muthumareeswaran. M.R, King Abdullah Institute for Nano technology presented a paper. Dr. Mahesh Kumar, IIT Jodhpur lectured on “AlGaN/GaN transistor based heavy metal ion sensors for water quality monitoring and Dr C. Subramaniam, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay talked on ‘Towards achieving selectivity and reliability in point-of-care sensors for water quality monitoring. While Dr Chuck Henry – Colorado State University talked about ‘Low-cost paper-based sensors for water quality monitoring, Dr Kamalesh Chaudhari, ICCW spoke on ‘An affordable fluoride sensor at ppb level’. The workshop was attended by students, professors, water experts and scientists. Prof T Pradeep, Prof-in charge, ICCW delivered the inaugural remarks, while Prof BLV Prasad, NCL Pune and Dr S. Vidhya, ICCW, moderated the event.
