Speaker Profile:
Prof. Janakarajan a retired professor from the Madras Institute of Development Studies (MIDS) is an expert in urban and rural water, watermarkets, water conflicts, trans-boundary water disputes, climate change & adaptation, deltas & coastal wetlands and food security.
He is the President of South Asia Consortium for Interdisciplinary Water Resources Studies and a Steering Committee Member of Forum for Policy Dialogue on Conflict Resolution on Water in India.
He has headed several research projects in the area of water, ecology and environment funded by several national and international organisations including DST, Prof. Janakarajan is the Convener of the Cauvery Family which he started in 2003 with a view to resolving the inter-state dispute through farmer-farmer dialogue. He has many books and papers published in this field.
