WATERTALK 14- BY SANGEETH ADHIKARI
Water expert
‘Wastewater based epidemiology and Population health‘
Speaker Profile:
Sangeet Adhikari, a native of the lap of Himalayas, Nepal, recently defended his dissertation titled
“Tracking Chemical Markers to Inform Population Health Using Wastewater-based Epidemiology
(WBE).”
He currently works with Dr. Rolf U. Halden in the Biodesign Center for Environmental Health Engineering at Arizona State University, investigating the burden of chemicals and pathogens in the
community through the novel concept of WBE.
His academic background is interdisciplinary and focused primarily on high-impact research emphasizing WBE, which diverges to sustainability, wellness,
environmental chemistry, health, and data analytics in environmental engineering.
He graduated with honors in Chemical Engineering from the University of Mississippi in 2018. He is currently developing
different analytical methods to detect microplastics and nanoplastics in complex matrices. He has
published nine research papers on various applications of WBE to inform population health during his
time at graduate school.
