Dr. KAMALESH CHAUDHARI

PRINCIPAL SCIENTIST
Dr. Kamalesh Chaudhari is a Principal Scientist at the International Centre for Clean Water (ICCW), IIT Madras Research Park, Chennai. He obtained his M.Sc. in Physics from IIT Kharagpur and Ph.D. in Biomedical Devices and Technology from IIT Madras, followed by postdoctoral research at the University of Alberta, Canada. His research expertise spans spectroscopy, electrochemical sensing, nanotechnology, microfluidics, and IoT-enabled systems for water quality monitoring and environmental analytics.

Dr. Chaudhari has led and contributed to several national and international collaborative projects, including Indo-UK, Indo-Germany, and Indo-Korea programs focused on advanced sensing technologies for water quality assessment. He has developed portable and smartphone-integrated sensing platforms for arsenic, fluoride, and free chlorine detection, along with advanced plasmonic and Raman spectroscopy techniques for nanoscale analysis. His work has resulted in 24 international journal publications, 2 book chapters, multiple granted patents, and over 1850 citations with an h-index of 15.

He has also played a key role in establishing advanced laboratory facilities at ICCW, IIT Madras Research Park, and in translating research into practice through two startups—EyeNetAqua Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and DeepSpectrum Analytics Pvt. Ltd.—focused on sustainable water technologies and spectroscopy-driven analytics. His current work emphasizes AI-enabled spectroscopic intelligence, smart sensing systems, and data-driven environmental monitoring solutions for scalable real-world deployment.
